My Talk With Death...

Hey guys....

I just got off the phone with my Mother earlier this morning...

She told me that, "I haven't been 100% honest about what the doctor told me when I visited him last week...I need you to come by and do more things that I physically can't do right now..."

She never went into details about that cryptic statement.

More to the point, I never asked.

Why, Hassan?

I took this picture on April 3rd, 2013.

Looks like a normal "selfie", right?

I was broke and couldn't find my bus card that morning.

My Mother called me at roughly 6am and told me she was having a "small" heart attack.

WTF is a "small" heart attack?

Growing up, my mother was physically indomitable to me.

Only 5'2", she scared me in ways it would take hours and pages to describe.

She was invincible.

On April 3rd 2013, I entered her hospital room and looked at her.

She looked....MORTAL.

Weak.

It was at that point that I finally realized, at age 39, that I could wake up and she would no longer be here.


I was mad at Death.

From 1998-2000, I lost 11 friends and associates to HIV/AIDS related complications.

It seemed like everybody I attached myself to DIED.

When I was 19, I lost the man I called my true "brother", Aaron, to suicide.

I WAS PISSED AF AT DEATH.

On April 3rd, perhaps because of my maturity at age 39, I made peace with the concept of mortality.

ALL OF US WILL DIE.

So when my Mother made that cryptic comment, I didn't press her on it.

I will push to keep her alive as long as possible.

I no longer fear Death, however.

Death is neither Good , nor Evil.

IT JUST IS.

It was literally when I WALKED three miles from the hospital back to my apartment.

After walking three miles to get there.

HEY BILL MAHER: GUESS WHO'S THE WORLD'S #1 TERRORIST?WHITE MEN!

 I was watching "Real Time with Bill Maher" last night, as usual, and near the end of the program, Bill began riffing on Muslims being "terrorists"...he's ranted before, and each time more and more anger swelled up in me over his arrogance and hypocrisy.

Let me state clearly that I like Maher.  This dragging will be done with no hard feelings in tow.

Dear Bill,

Hi, it's me, Hassan! Remember last night when you said Muslims were the biggest terrorists in the world today? You weren't reading the "Billboard Hot 100" of world terrorists correctly. you see, the group that has held the number one spot and gone unchallenged in the last five hundred (500)years is a group that you ought to be intimately familiar with, as you are part of them...that group, is white men.

WHAT!?!?!?!

No, this isn't some racist rant from some "pseudo militant" gay black dude.

 Nah, homie.

Just spitting facts.

For arguments sake, I will only use reference sources from white men themselves on not only their historical brutality, but their current debauchery. You can look up the details. I will begin by noting the obvious: White men built a GLOBAL system designed for the promulgation, advancement, and propagandizing of a lie: The myth of white supremacy. In all areas of people activity, people that looked like you, Bill, went into every known area of the world and slaughtered, raped, pillaged, stolen resources, dehumanized, devalued, degraded the non white occupants of that area under the banner of erroneous concepts like "Manifest destiny"(some bullshit that proclaimed that it was your  God given right as white folks to steal shit), and now, after five long brutal centuries of the most cruel, inhumane treatment ever rendered in the history of the world, you, as a white male, have the nerve to proclaim someone else holds your people's crown as a terrorist.

As someone who fancies himself a progressive, I'm sure you are aware of the cliff notes version of all this...whether it was the Maori people of New Zealand, the indigenous people of North America, South America, Central America, Asia, or Africa, white folks systematically robbed, stole, and plundered the planet, terrorizing every non white person in their path. White men perfected sadistic, disgusting, cruel and wicked methods to establish and maintain control over their captives.

Trivia time!

What part of Earth are white people "indigenous" or native to?

Did you guess Europe?

NOPE.

They were not even the first people there.

Didn't know that, huh? There was a group of Africans now known as the Grimaldi, who arrived in Europe between 40 and 50,000 years ago, and through the process of speciation (evolution of distinct species due to environmental and other factors), essentially, for lack of a better term, "became" white. The climate of Europe wasn't conducive to heavy melanin and coarse hair, so as humans do, they adapted...

(I could go into Yacub's History here, but y'all ain't ready for that).

In fact, you guys aren't really native to any part of the planet Earth if you want to be technical... After the Moors civilized you guys, having conquered Europe all the way up to the gates of Vienna, you engaged in a very bitter and vicious series of wars called the Crusades with them. You defeated the Moors eventually, and this is when your reign of unprecedented terrorism begins.

White "nationalists" like Steve Bannon and Donald Trump want to relive the Crusades.

Terrorism.

Perfect word choice.

According to all of your own historians, white men set sail around the Earth, never to be subjugated again, and began a race to conquer  the darker people of the world. White men exterminated the Tazmanians in Australia, The Maori in New Zealand, and the Carib Indians. To this moment, all of the wealth whites enjoy on a relative basis, and the myriad of other privileges afforded in a system of white supremacy, was accumulated on the backs of non white people. It would take a true terrorist to do that. Every Western nation on Earth today is built upon either the overt, or in most cases covert display of white supremacy.

Muslims don't hold a candle to white men. Whether they be the Founding Fathers, or the rank and file white Christian male...white Jewish male...or  white "atheist" male, white men unite upon only one major principle. White supremacy.

Notice I haven't even begun on what white men did to black folks yet???

Now I know you are a "liberal" and that means you want me to believe that it's just those right wing  white folks that uphold such beliefs.


Malcolm X warned us clearly about the white liberal.

 

So Bill.....my suspicion is that anyone who has the nerve and audacity to set a course of action antithetical to white control and subjugation, will get the "terrorist" label placed on them.

I have no love for "ISIS" or any of  those other groups. This is merely a note to remind you that, especially a wealthy white male, you have no space calling anyone else a terrorist, given the debauchery your ilk have heaped on mankind.

(Note: Don't assume for a second that the white woman gets a pass...she is the right hand to white men in the system of white supremacy, and gives no care about picking race over gender or any other factor. Don't be deceived...I just don't feel like typing a whole book on her and him.)

Noticing that many were at different levels in the self-awareness of their own sexuality, the seeds of his book were sewn.

“This book is a study into the human sexuality, and sexual identity politics of black men in American prisons. It examines the cultural, moral, and social implications of sexual behavior in prisons due to millions of black men being trafficked in and out of the criminal justice system each year” Says Hartley, who has spent the last six years researching incarcerated black men at prisons all over the United States.

 

He continues, “I explore the impact of religion and education on how black men view sex in prison, as well as the dangers of HIV and other STD infections that occur. I discuss how heterosexual, bisexual and gay men deal with each other, as well as my own unique and controversial journey that led me to write this book.”

Hartley’s work is the culmination of thousands of personal inmate interviews and online correspondence, during which he both confirmed his own beliefs and was enlightened with new, often disturbing information.

Aside from the personal identity of incarcerated black men, When the Lights Go Out also examines the impact that prison-spread sexually transmitted diseases have on the wider black community, and the United States as a whole.

“The homophobia that exists within the black community makes this discussion even more difficult, and my book serves as a bridge to promote healthy, intelligent, nuanced dialogue” Hartley adds.

 

The book has been garnering much interest among followers of Hartley’s blog. Providing an insightful narrative on the embedded homophobia surrounding current news and affairs, the blog is proving itself as an educational eye-opener on modern America.

 

 

 

IF YOU'RE BLACK, GAY, MALE AND MASCULINE....YOU MOLEST CHILDREN!?!

So....I've been listening to author/radio host/documentary filmmaker Tariq Nasheed for about 4 years now. I grew  to respect his insight on many issues related to the black collective, and found his programs both entertaining and informative. I overlooked his reference to some folks as "moist", as I have been known myself to refer to heterosexual black men and women as "breeders" on more than one occasion(72% of black children born out of wedlock...breeders seemed apt). In a broadcast of his weekly Sunday Ustream show on December 18, 2016, Tariq began, for lack of a better phrase, a "rant", directly equating black gay men who assert themselves as "masculine", with child molesters.

You read that last sentence correctly.

I didn't want to misquote Nasheed or "take him out of context", so the entire clip from the beginning of his rant to the end is posted above. I will begin quoting him at the 1:55 mark of the clip, to delineate clearly what the outrage was that I experienced when I heard this disgusting, false and bigoted commentary.

"...Yea the dude was like, 'Just because you're gay don't-you don't mean you're not masculine'...and you know what that sounds like? THAT'S CHILD MOLESTER TALK. When people start saying THAT, THAT'S child molester talk. that's what motherfuckers say to little kids that they're trying TO TURN OUT...."

I could not type any more of that disgusting garbage without literally cringing.

Where do I begin....? Nasheed asserts that when black gay men assert they  also can be masculine, that the mere notion that there is ANYTHING similar to heterosexual black "manhood" is and should be a danger sign to ALL heterosexuals that this same gender loving man is predatory and wants to molest your children.

WOW.

This level of ignorance could not go without a response. So I took to Twitter and voiced my displeasure over his deplorable and despicable commentary:

That's not uncommon for me. See, whatever I have to say  about a person, I DO NOT care if they see it or hear about it, because I can defend my position with TRUTH. I wasn't "trolling", I was genuinely and deeply offended by his brazenly stupid comments. I have been out of the closet since December 1994, a time when it was much more unspoken and taboo to be same gender loving in the black community than it is now. I am, and we as same gender loving people are a part of the black community and experience, whether the bigots like it or not.

Please note that I am using the term "bigot", rather than "homophobic". One of the games that the "conscious" black community loves to play is a word game. They dissect the word "homophobia" and center on the "phobia" part, to which they always reply, "I'm not scared of (gays)!" (insert expletive or slur in place of gay). To pinpoint his ignorance and not allow these Negroes to deflect and change the narrative, call them what they are: anti gay "bigots".  Honestly though, being that Tariq was a critically acclaimed filmmaker and NY Times best selling author, I didn't expect him to respond to my tweet.

Nor did I expect him to respond within three minutes of my posting it.

I leveled a serious charge at the guy, and his only response was to not only avoid the comment, but suggest that I want his "attention"?

 

Does his attention come with $$$? Because if not, go kill yourself.

 

Being that now I would have to behave as the "adult" in the discussion, I clarified my statement and remained firm.

 

Now anyone who knows me, knows that I could tear the skin off of this thin skinned heterosexual butch queen and drag his ass to the gates of  Hell verbally...

 

 

...clearly if he is too weak in his defense of his own "truth", then I will destroy this jackass with ease.

....but I respected the guy....I bought Hidden Colors 1,2,3,and 4, and have even shown them in my classes to my students.

 

SO......

 

Maybe he didn't know what I was talking about SPECIFICALLY.

 

So I showed him.....

 

 

Well now is the moment of truth.

 

 I posted his own words IN FRONT OF THE WORLD back to him, so he cannot continue to deny that he made these appalling comments.

 

I even told him where in the clip to begin....LOL....

 

That made the thin skinned heterosexual butch queen Tariq Nasheed furious.

I stayed gracious, fully aware that what Tariq wants is to bait you into an angry response so that he can paint you as the "troll".

 

 

I played it cool and ENDED the conversation.

 

 

 

What a disappointment. A brother that I thought had the maturity and class to defend his position when questioned about it, deflected and made this some false narrative about me wanting "attention" from him.

 

When I said,  "Have a great day..." he did something I would never have foreseen.

 

This thirsty, tired, trolling ass heterosexual butch queen got under not ONE...OR TWO....OR THREE...BUT FOUR FAKE ACCOUNTS and started trolling ME!

Hello everyone!


                                   Just wanted to let you guys know that my first "fiction" project, a story I've been working on for a while, will be out this spring in April 2016..it is entitled,



"WE...ARE...AT...WAR..."





Part 1 will be arriving to you in April 2016..it takes place "Sometime in the  very near future, in a neighborhood close, close to you".



The story starts with a tragic act of 19 police precincts being bombed simultaneously in New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, Baltimore and Newark, New Jersey. The most heinous act of domestic terrorism on American soil since the horror of 9/11, the nation is at a heightened period of racial and civil unrest. Tensions have been mounting with every murder of black young men and women in the United States by local police and law enforcement....

The protests have not worked...

The marching, and praying, and tweeting, and arguing have not led to an absolution to this crisis.

How did this happen? Who is responsible...?



The nation is at a boiling point of anger and polarization. Traditional leadership such as Rev. Al Sharpton, Rev. Jesse Jackson and others, have no credibility with the angry masses. The police have become a law unto themselves, constantly circling the wagons, insulating themselves in an "us vs. them" mentality that sees black youth, particularly black young men, as their preeminent threat. This leads to the rise of a man named Jacob Davidson, a former Navy Seal and military hero, who now works in the inner city of Newark to curb violence among his people. He witnesses his child and nephew gunned down in the street by two Newark police officers, and is now determined to lead the charge against police brutality and white supremacy. The media begins to sensationalize the unrest with constant coverage, often skewing the facts and turning the legitimate aspirations of the suffering masses into something of a joke.

No more.

"Terrorism is often like beauty....it is in the eye of the beholder" says Jacob, now the leader of the Vanguard Party for Resurrection of Truth and Justice, an outfit seen by many as "radical" and "subversive" by some, and standard bearers of truth and righteousness to others....




"We are tired of standing by while our boys are slaughtered in the streets, murdered by despicable two legged dogs with uniforms and badges. Your 'We Shall Overcome' bullshit has distracted us for way too long. The police in America have declared war on black people. It is time we fought back, and fight back to win.." shouts Jacob, a man whose military training and expertise make him particularly dangerous when radicalizing people to his cause.

This story takes many twists and turns as it unravels the origins of the tensions between blacks and law enforcement, while giving the reader a strong premonition of events to come in our future.

A future not as distant as we may believe.

This book was inspired by obvious recent events in our nation.

Hey guys...

I haven't blogged in a while as I've been in the process of moving, working out regularly again, laying off the sauce(alcohol),and growing a new layer of comfort in my own skin.

In May of this year, I went to get a physical at my doctor. With full clothes on,plus boots, I weighed 188 lbs...(subtract seven pounds for clothes and I was 181..)..my skin was badly discolored around my cheeks, and two doctors diagnosed me with vitiligo,the same skin disorder as Michael Jackson...wasn't feeling good about myself at all, despite having friends and loved ones loving me...

I decided to work out again. At my biggest, I was a strong 235 lbs, benching well over 400 lbs, and feeling DAMN near invincible. I stopped working out four years ago. Got bored. I began drinking a "nightcap"(which,for me,was a 24 ounce glass of pure vodka straight before bed...)

Well, both me and my guy love vodka, and shit this was no problem for him...the alcohol, combined with not eating or lifting, ravaged my body slowly. The 181lbs. in May was the smallest I'd been in 11 years. Enough was enough.

I didn't know where it would lead, after four years, no weights,no diet to speak of,and drinking more than I'd ever done in life. On June 1st,I started lifting again. I began eating six small meals a day. As a promise to my guy, I would lay off the firewater on a daily basis, and only drink socially...(this was a trick on his part, because he knows I rarely go out)...from June 1st until late July, I didn't go near a scale. Too depressing after I was so small just weeks before.

July 28th rolled around. I was 215 lbs. Muscle memory kicked in when I began working out regularly again. It was like my body craved the nutrients I was missing. My skin was less discolored and healthy looking again.  My mojo was back!!!! I could sleep without alcohol, and was growing faster than I had when I was in my late 20's....

The old-scratch that-new Hassan was BACK!!

At age 41, I was tired of trying to look a certain way to remain "relevant"(I laughed as I typed that... pop culture has us all caught up in the hype of looking youthful and strong). That was my problem before. I was lifting to get a nice body to attract people to me..the frustration set in when all I would meet were people who were interested in me sexually.

Now,I'm doing it for me. Health and peace are my priority now. I guess even when you think you've grown up, God shows you life lessons to let you know you're JUST getting started.."getting to happy" should be our first order of business..... By the way.... HIV POSITIVE, "UNDETECTABLE" AND THE IGNORANCE OF STR8 FOLKS!

I wanted to take a few minutes to blog about a Youtube clip I recently came across by a woman who calls herself "LovelyTi"....she blogs several times a day and is based in Los Angeles California. This particular blog deals with a woman's claims that she, after being diagnosed as HIV positive, has willfully and deliberately slept with "hundreds" of men and engaged in unprotected sex. The woman's constant refrain was, "I'm undetectable! I'm undetectable!!!!!".

The woman appears to be on drugs or mentally unstable, or perhaps both. Whatever the situation is with this woman, "LovelyTi" chose to opine on the subject, and below is the Youtube clip of her "rant" about the issue:

HIV POSITIVE WOMAN CLAIMS TO HAVE SLEPT WITH HUNDREDS OF MEN BUT SAYS SHE IS UNDETECTABLE!

In the clip, LovelyTi, a woman I follow on Youtube and whose opinion and insight on a great many things I do respect, begins to spew some of the most ignorant, ass backwards misinformation about HIV/AIDS I have heard since I joined the fight back in the late 1990's against HIV/AIDS....

Some facts first:

1). When an HIV positive person is declared by their physician to be "undetectable", it means that based on the blood work done to monitor the amount of virus in their blood, (called "viral load"), that it is so low that it poses little to no harm in the person's body. This does NOT mean the person is "cured" of the virus. One must remain vigilant and adhere to the medications prescribed by their doctor in order to maintain that status. Magic Johnson, for example, has stated on several occasions that he is "undetectable".

2).Any human being, regardless of their health or STD status, that recklessly has unprotected sex with hundreds of persons is a danger to themselves and society. This should go without saying.

3) Heterosexuals like LovelyTi, who live in a bubble that essentially believes that HIV/AIDS is primarily a "gay" disease, spew ignorance such as "I don't know what the hell UNDETECTABLE HIV is...sounds like bullshit to me!" out of fear and lack of education. She cannot help her rank stupidity and the arrogance with which she boasts about it on the above clip. We must educate, not condemn.


It speaks to a deeper code of silence within the black community...particularly black women, who spew out media driven talking points about the virus, homosexuality, etc, without understanding that there are FACTS here-scientifically established facts-that must be brought to the light if we are to truly educate our community. I was disgusted at how this woman, who has a platform wherein thousands of people watch her and listen to her on a daily basis, could be so reckless with her approach to this topic. It makes me question everything else she speaks on.


Black people tend to speak about "truth" only when it vibes with what I refer to as their "emotional narrative"...if a set of facts validates their opinion, then it is "truth"...if it doesn't then it is "bullshit" and they go right on comfortable in their ignorance UNTIL A WHITE MALE AUTHORITY FIGURE TELLS THEM DIFFERENTLY.


Pull it together, Miss Ti, girl.

FACEBOOK: ENGINE OF WHITE SUPREMACY....?

Hey guys! Lately, I have noticed that quite a few of my Facebook friends have been receiving harsh penalties for relatively minor offenses (pictures of themselves in swimwear at the beach that were not revealing, reacting to racist comments, or speaking out in general about serious political issues) while white FB members can seemingly get away with use of the N word, calling people "faggots", and many other derogatory epithets and names.

What gives, Facebook? Have you hired moderators that are race soldiers of white supremacy? Odd that you would be so discriminatory given that your "founder" is a member of an ethno-religious group (Jewish)that tells its stories of hate against them all the time. I have personally reported many white supremacists and bigots of all strata, only to have FB say that "it doesn't violate our rules" to be so hateful against blacks and others.



Studies have shown that people of color use FB disproportionally more than their white counterparts. You would be wise to remember this Facebook, lest you find this charge spread all over social media and outlets around the world with just a click of a button. At that point, a "like" won't be enough.

AN OPEN LETTER TO IYANLA VANZANT REGARDING FERGUSON!!!!!!!!!!!

Dear Iyanla Vanzant,

May God be pleased with you, and your loved ones, and I pray you receive this in a positive but strong spirit, and not one of defensiveness and umbrage.

"Justice" is a principle of fair dealing. It has legal, ethical, and real time aspects to it. Justice also balances the human mind. When human beings feel deprived of justice, their frustration, anger and fear grows within that mind. The greater the injustice, the greater the imbalance. To blame those deprived of justice for reacting to IN-justice in ways not deemed "appropriate" by civil society, is morally disingenuous. The key to solving the problem is to discover the root of their oppression, deal with it, remove it or contain it, and then-but ONLY then-can a spirit of PEACE begin to develop......

...When protesters say, "No Justice, No Peace", what they are saying is, "without that principle of fair dealing, there will be no rest....no ease...." to scold the victim for reacting to his oppression,only appears that you want to PACIFY HIM OR HER, not bring peace.

Iyanla, not once have you had a show spotlighting "black on black crime" on your "Fix My Life" series. We here in Chicago have NEVER seen you come in the hood with your rhetoric, talking about "Fix my life"...you are playing up to the whites and non blacks in your audience by shifting blame to "black on black crime". Saddening.

Please stop preaching about "black on black crime" UNLESS AND UNTIL you, like many of us in as many ways as we can try to quell this malady,roll your sleeves up and spotlight THAT on your show, to "interrupt the pattern..." Then have seats. You look hypocritical by droning on about that issue without ANY action on your part. You are supposed to be an ELDER. Yet your argument is out of order.


Tighten up, Mama.

When the possibility that white police officers may be threatened arises, here you come with your cameras, trolling for ratings, trying to pacify the victim and mollify the predators. I was HIGHLY disappointed at what you presented tonight. I think that you bit off far more than you can chew, and some things need time before cameras and psychobabble come into the picture.

Were you sent there to "interrupt the pattern", or pacify the "Negroes"??? The flowery rhetoric you preach is nothing new to me. I was raised under many Afrocentric men and women, and pastors, Imams, etc....please be careful that your heart is clear and pure, because it can come across as a new age, evangelical "performance" for your show and for your boss, Oprah Winfrey.

ARE BLACK WOMEN ABOVE CRITIQUE WITHIN THE BLACK COMMUNITY????

You will never, ever guess why.
A black female posted an article reposted from a blog by Cory Alexander Haywood listed below:

In this travel group on Facebook,(Nomad-ness Travel) the black women who read this article did not deconstruct it with logic, see it for what it was(a conversation piece wherein generalizations are used to get black men and women to discussing "interracial" relationships, an already incendiary topic), they went on the attack.

Personal insults, vitriol, anger, viciousness were the order of the day as the response to this ONE black man's blog. The level of viciousness is never higher than when black women are criticized, no matter the topic. Black males can be thrown under the bus with frequency and regularity akin to rush hour in a major city when it comes to topics related to us.

Are black women so above reproach that they cannot even withstand ANY critique, whether justified or not????

When I asked several of the black women who were launching personal attacks against the guy to give a cogent, coherent argument in response without emotion to his blog, they turned their sights on me personally.

It got nasty.

One woman, who was nearly 275lbs. with a haircut no longer than mine, began attempting to call me an "internet troll"  


I fired back with statistics about 80% of black women being classified as "obese" and going in on her personally to show her that if you want to get personal, you PICKED THE RIGHT DUDE TO TRY IT WITH.


She backed off slowly with every wig snatching read I shot her way. Some other gal named Kia Richards tried to back her up and was even more vicious. I asked her if she was a bitch(are you a bitch?I don't recall saying anything to you and yet you called me a "loser", Fag"  and other names in my inbox)...., and she immediately retreated after that, when I asked her if she was a bitch and pointed out she was named after the cheapest car on the market, but wants me to treat her like a queen. After one of the admins, a woman with a penis who identified itself as Jason Francis, deleted me, I began putting dots together...

Most of the negative customer service I see in person happens occurs when black women are the cashiers.

Nasty, rude, overbearing, mean, aggressive, bossy, shrill behavior that has no place in a customer service context.

Obviously all black women are not like this, but my need to preface my critique with such remarks shows how  vitriolic and illogical the ones that are can be.

Let's face it: The black community is a matriarchy, and there are far too many black women who feel that blistering attacks on black men with whom they disagree on ANYTHING is "cute" and acceptable. Ask for logic and with each response, they devolve five years until kindergarten viciousness is their norm. When Iyanla Vanzant said black women were "out of order" months ago, even she was attacked with hatred by her own sisters.

Whether I agree or disagree with even a word of dude's article, my merely asking for logic got me attacked as if I were him so let's have at it. Black women use black men as verbal punching bags in these incendiary debates, yet the minute a brother fights back, far too many play "victim" and act as though they did nothing wrong.

I'm sick of nasty, rude, shrill, disrespectful sisters in customer service positions thinking that they can treat black male patrons like dirt, but if a white male comes in( and I have witnessed this) and calls them a bitch, they have the classic Negro Bed Wench look of hurt and rejection in their eyes, as if their master did not validate them.


BLACK WOMEN.

I LOVE YOU.

Hey guys! Just had a conversation on Facebook with two white ladies, whose husbands are currently serving time in prison, and I made the following statement: "In some cities, a white male with a felony conviction and high school education has a better chance of getting a job than a black male with no felony conviction and a college degree". 


WHY DID I GO AND SAY THAT?!?!?!?!? LMAO!!! We will call the two white girls "Becky" and Amy". Here is some data to back up my statement:

 "You may remember the 2003 University of Chicago study by Devah Pager that sent young white and black “testers” with randomly assigned “felony convictions” to apply for low-wage jobs. The study found that whites with felonies were more likely to be called for interviews than black applicants without criminal records. Eight years later, black male unemployment has hit the highest rate since the government began keeping track in 1972.

 It is estimated that only 56.9 percent of black men over age 20 are working, and the prospects for them to earn an honest living anytime soon in this crumbling economy are not good.

 While Obama battles the GOP over raising the debt ceiling and preserving “sacred cow” tax cuts and entitlement programs, the unemployed poor are becoming increasingly desperate. Of particular concern is the reality that the once-supportive family members who used to serve as safety nets for struggling felons are now losing their jobs and homes in record numbers. The safety net exists no more.

 According to an analysis of Federal Reserve data by the Economic Policy Institute in 2004, the median net worth of white households was $134,280, compared with $13,450 for black households. By 2009, the median net worth for white households had fallen 24 percent to $97,860; the median black net worth had fallen 83 percent to $2,170. And, no, that is not a typo. 

Algernon Austin, director of the Economic Policy Institute’s Program on Race, Ethnicity and the Economy describes the wealth gap like this, “In 2009, for every dollar of wealth the average white household had, black households only had two cents.” Two cents. Really? If anyone has the audacity to suggest to me that having a black president means America is now “post racial,” I will have to hold myself back. And, speaking of remaining nonviolent in the face of violent oppression… If there has ever been a reason to march on Washington, it is right the hell now."

"Becky", whose husband is in prison for ten years(side bar: when a white male goes to prison, with white privilege and male privilege on his side and he STILL fucks up and gets a ten year prison sentence,and has no education, I tend to feel even less sympathy for them.)  Black men make up 6% of the population, yet account for 51% of all jail and prison inmates. There are more black people now, under correctional control, then WERE SLAVES IN 1850.

 "Amy", whose husband also got locked up and is serving hard time, came to Becky's defense....(to be expected when an educated black male shuts one of them down in an argument with FACTS.) I politely told Amy that I stand by my words 100% and if you cannot comprehend them, then its her problem, not mine. (I gave up trying to convince white people of anything racial a long time ago; they pretend to be in denial and play the "I'm not racist, so why bring up race?" routine. SMH.) (i also told Amy where she should go since she was getting rude and bitchy at this point, and to give you a hint, the Sun doesn't shine there.....)




To be honest, I can halfway see their point.(NOT). They are married to white males who are convicted felons. Languishing in prison. Maybe to them, this is the norm in Oklahoma or Kansas. They are probably the poor, uneducated whites who watch Fox News, buy guns, and drive dusty pick up trucks. Their inability to not take advantage of white privilege in a system of white dominance, may make them feel shafted by the system. Or maybe they are just trailer trash with no clue what is going on. MY OPEN LETTER TO DON LEMON: GET A CLUE!

Dear Don Lemon,

I watched with some measure of astonishment and amazement at your attempt recently to cosign Bill O'Reilly's generalizations about the Black community.(Black is capitalized on purpose.) To begin, I am also a black gay male such as yourself, who is college educated, and a published author. I grew up in many of the same neighborhoods you generalized in your rant. In fact, I grew up 6 blocks from Michelle Obama, our First Lady's, childhood home.

Although she and I are ten years apart in age, we attended the same elementary school and high school here in Chicago. The "low income",  neighborhood( it's hilarious that when white people are poor, they call the area, "working class", but when blacks are at the same income level, we are called "low income") She and I grew up in, was at times gang infested; it wasn't Cabrini Green by any stretch of the imagination, but it probably wasn't the nice middle class environment you were raised in.


Your tone deaf analysis of the condition of black people is a specious argument, at best. I say specious, because on the surface, it appears to make perfect sense. Upon evaluation, however, there are deep flaws that must be brought to your attention. You failed to mention the multi generational cycles of poverty brought about during the late 1960's through the 1970's that continues and has spiraled out of control in many black urban areas. This is important to note, because this is not the first time that high crime, murder and the like has permeated urban areas in the United States. In the 1920's, Irish and other immigrants were marginalized within white society and lived in deep pockets of urban poverty. If you watch "Gangs of New York", it chronicles, albeit theatrically, the gang violence of that era.

Sound familiar?

Gang violence, poverty, ethnic on ethnic crime and murder?

The Government's response was not to incarcerate, criminalize and demonize these immigrants. On the contrary, they realized that opening doors to education, the ability to procure employment or even start your own businesses, were better solutions. You can't even name a Jewish "ghetto" today, can you? It isn't because they "pulled themselves up by their bootstraps", Mr. Lemon. They had help.

No one sat on a radio lecturing them about "personal responsibility". No one talked about the disproportionally high birth rates among those marginalized immigrants. You,however, in your cosigning with an avowed race baiter like O'Reilly, showed exactly how much you simply don't get it.

Russell Simmons compared sagging jeans to Afro's and dashiki's. You responded by pointing out that Afro's and dashiki's were symbols of black cultural pride. Indeed they were. However, his point flew completely over your head.

Let me explain.

In the late 1960's through the 1970's law enforcement viewed Afro's and dashikis with contempt. Such contempt, in fact, that they routinely profiled, stopped and searched persons wearing these symbols of "cultural pride". The Black Panthers, for whom the style is most widely known and associated, were deemed "The most dangerous terrorist organization in the United States" by J. Edgar Hoover of the FBI.

That is correct, Mr. Lemon. They were viewed as militant criminal threats, and anyone-i mean anyone, male or female, rocking that style, may have been stopped and "frisked" by the police, had their phones wire tapped, and seen as a danger and menace to society.

Sort of like how young black men who sag their pants today are seen. That was Russell Simmons point.


I take it that your grasp of history got lost when white America accepted you as a gay man.  A general rule of thumb, is to stay out of race based discussions if your experience cannot speak accurately and effectively for those most marginalized. I pray that going forward, you follow that advice and stay in your lane.
